Effects and Development of the Body Weight Control Education Program of Female College Students

Abstract
Purpose: This study was performed to develop an educational program for weight control based on the behavior modification doctrine, and to examine its effect on female college students who had high interest in their weight control. The research design was the nonequivalent control group design with pre-test and post-test to develop the weight control educational program and measure its effect.

Method: The data were collected from May 16 to July 4£¬2005 for eight weeks through the agreement of the subjects who participated in this program. The data were analyzed x2-test and t-test using the SPSS/WIN 11.0.

Results: The experimental group showed significant improvement in diet attitude, diet habit, weight control behavior, weight, level of triglyceride, self-esteem, body image.

Conclusion: It was suggested that the weight control education program had affirmative effects on the attitude of food, food habits, weight control behavior, weight,lipid profiles, self-esteem, and body image of female college students. Therefore, the developed program may be used as an educational program to promote weight control in female college students.
